The aim of this cooperation project with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras/ Chennai (IITM) is to discuss the challenges, interplay and adaptation strategies in and between the fields of religion and technology in the current era of enormous transformations. In particular, the rapid developments in relation to the digital world and climate pose significant challenges. We consider "religion" in this context as a primary source of value-based solutions and "technology" as a specific approach to the world. Recent trends in theology and religious studies focus on the material elements of religious practice. This turn opens up opportunities for other humanities and technical sciences to engage productively in different ways. From 21 to 24 November 2023, a joint RWTH and IITM conference will be held with the participation of History of Technology, Social Anthropology and Social Science and Technology Studies.
