Building Resilient Communities through Integrating Climate Change Adaptation with the SDGs in the University Research and Education Programs, Duration 2023-2026
In Ghana, agriculture, biodiversity, health and water supply are severely threatened by climate change. Adaptation to the expected harmful effects of climate change is part of German development cooperation as well as scientific cooperation with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The aim of BRIDGE is to increase the resilience and adaptability of the population to climate change. Religion and local traditions are tapped as resources for this. BRIDGE focuses on improving education and research through
- Identify and analyse climate-related risks and appropriate climate adaptation measures to achieve the SDGs;
- Update the curriculum of the MPhil Urban Management Studies at KNUST by introducing climate adaptation modules and SDG-related measures;
- Capacity building for academic staff;
- Modernisation and digitisation of teaching and training materials
